Perplexity AI has unveiled Comet Enterprise, a workplace-focused version of its AI-powered browser, as the company deepens its presence in enterprise software and productivity tools.
The launch follows rapid adoption of Comet since its debut last year, with millions of users relying on the browser to conduct research, automate workflows and complete tasks without switching applications. The enterprise edition builds on that foundation, offering organisations tighter controls, security integrations and centralised deployment capabilities.
Designed for IT teams, Comet Enterprise introduces granular governance features that allow administrators to define how employees interact with AI. Companies can restrict the browser from answering queries without taking actions or limit automated actions to approved domains. Deployment is handled through a silent installer compatible with existing mobile device management systems, enabling rollouts across large workforces.
The platform also provides detailed telemetry and audit logs, giving organisations visibility into how AI tools are being used at an individual level. This focus on oversight reflects growing corporate concerns around data security and compliance as AI tools become embedded in daily workflows.
To strengthen security, Comet Enterprise integrates with CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform. The integration adds device-level protection, including the ability to detect phishing attempts, block malicious links, and prevent sensitive data from being shared through screenshots or downloads. Perplexity said it will not use enterprise data to train its AI models.
Early adopters include firms such as Fortune, AWS, AlixPartners, Gunderson Dettmer and Bessemer Venture Partners, signalling interest across industries ranging from consulting to technology and venture capital.
The browser is designed to support a wide range of professional tasks. Users can research client accounts in real time, analyse contracts and suggest edits, perform calculations, and even automate networking actions such as identifying and connecting with relevant contacts.
By embedding these capabilities directly into the browser, Perplexity is positioning Comet Enterprise as a central workspace for knowledge-driven tasks. The move reflects a broader industry shift towards integrating AI into core productivity tools, as companies look to streamline workflows while maintaining control over how the technology is deployed.
