The AI coding startup's valuation has tripled in under a year — and investors show no signs of slowing down.

Cursor is in discussions to raise a fresh $2 billion funding round at a valuation exceeding $50 billion, according to reports — a figure that excludes the new investment and would mark a significant jump from its previous round just months ago.

The round is expected to be co-led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from existing backers including Nvidia and Thrive Capital. Cursor’s broader investor base includes Accel, DST Global, Coatue, and Google.

The company’s valuation has climbed rapidly. In November, Cursor raised $2.3 billion at a $29.3 billion post-money valuation, following a $900 million round in June — effectively tripling its value within the span of a year.

The fundraising talks reflect surging investor appetite for AI-powered coding tools — software that can automate and execute a wide range of development tasks with minimal human input. Cursor has been an early mover in the space, though competition has intensified as Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI have launched comparable capabilities.

Cursor has continued to expand its product in parallel. Recent updates introduced features that allow AI agents not only to generate code but also to test changes autonomously and document their actions through logs, screenshots, and video recordings — bringing the platform closer to fully autonomous software development workflows.

Separately, Germany-based digital engineering firm Nagarro has announced a strategic partnership with Cursor to embed AI into everyday software development workflows, with the goal of helping engineering teams reach production outcomes faster.
