Infosys has collaborated with OpenAI to help enterprises deploy artificial intelligence tools at scale, with a focus on software development and modernisation.

The partnership will combine OpenAI’s models, including its coding-focused product Codex, with Infosys Topaz, the company’s in-house AI suite, as IT services firms look to move beyond pilot projects to large-scale AI implementation.

The companies said the initial focus areas will include software engineering, legacy system modernisation, DevOps automation, and e-commerce—sectors where enterprises are actively experimenting with AI-led productivity gains.

The move comes at a time when global clients are reassessing technology spending amid the rise of generative and agentic AI, which is beginning to reshape how software is built, tested, and maintained.

“As enterprises move quickly to put Codex to work, we’re working with leading partners like Infosys to help more organisations move from early usage to repeatable deployment,” said Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer of OpenAI, in a statement, adding that partners such as Infosys can help scale adoption across areas like legacy code modernisation, code review automation, and vulnerability detection.

Infosys said the collaboration will centre on deploying AI agents and workflow automation tools to improve engineering productivity and reduce time-to-market.

“Generative and agentic AI will redefine how enterprises operate and grow. Our collaboration with OpenAI establishes an operating model to unlock AI value at scale—uniting technology, talent, and transformation playbooks so clients can move decisively from pilots to performance, creating competitive advantage,” added Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer, Infosys.

The tie-up reflects a broader shift in the IT services industry, where firms such as Infosys are deepening partnerships with AI model providers to stay relevant in a market that is rapidly evolving from traditional outsourcing to AI-led transformation deals.
