Databricks has announced its intent to acquire Panther, an AI SOC platform, aligning with the company’s vision for the security lakehouse, a new type of security software that is transforming traditional Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) through an agentic approach.

As stated by the company, the collaboration between the two firms will enable organisations to detect more threats, thoroughly investigate every alert, and combat AI-driven attacks with AI.

Recognised by prominent security teams, including Anthropic, Panther has demonstrated its ability to protect the most challenging AI-native environments.

Earlier this year, Databricks launched Lakewatch, a security lakehouse that helps organisations defend against AI-driven attacks by unifying security, IT, and business data to enable efficient detection and reduce costs.

“Legacy SIEM was never designed for AI,” Ali Ghodsi, Co‑founder and CEO of Databricks, said in a statement. “Databricks, which has the trust of 70% of the Fortune 500 in data and AI, is doubling down on Lakewatch and our security lakehouse vision. With Panther, we enhance and expand our ability to analyse all data and automate SOC workflows. Together, we can offer the best platform to help defend the world against agentic attacks.”

Panther enhances Databricks’ secure lakehouse vision by automating SOC workflows with AI agents and offering over 100 pre-built integrations for quick data ingestion, the company said. Founded by the creator of StreamAlert at Airbnb, Panther leverages expertise in open-source security to provide a powerful cloud-native SIEM and AI SOC platform focused on detection-as-code.

“The SOC is at an inflexion point: AI is changing how attacks are launched, and defenders can now finally keep pace with them. Together with Databricks, we can arm defenders with sophisticated agents that scale detection, investigation, and response,” Jack Naglieri, Founder and CEO of Panther, said.

This marks Panther as Databricks’ third security acquisition, further enhancing its AI security product team and reinforcing its commitment to security investments. The company has also acquired Antimatter, a cryptographic infrastructure service company and SiftD.ai, which provides agentic automation for security engineering.
