Nvidia, Cisco, Oracle, and OpenAI are among those looking to operate out of the newly announced UAE-US AI Campus in the United Arab Emirates.

The project was unveiled last week by US President Donald Trump and his Emirati counterpart, with plans for the data centre site to span some 5GW.

At the time, the two countries said that UAE tech firm G42 would build the campus on a 10 square mile plot, starting with 1GW of capacity.

Both the UAE and US governments said that the campus would be used by American hyperscalers, but the customers were not shared.

Now, CNBC reports that at least a portion of the campus will be operated as a ‘UAE Stargate’ – with Stargate being the name for OpenAI’s joint venture to build giant data centres for its AI training and inference.

The primary US Stargate is a $500bn project to build a number of data centres across America, backed by OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX.

Earlier this month, OpenAI launched ‘Stargate for Countries,’ looking for up to 10 countries to partner with on regional megacampuses.

In this case, Oracle will again be involved in this Stargate. G42’s chairman and controlling shareholder also runs MGX.

The campus will use Nvidia GPUs and Cisco networking gear.
