Perplexity AI on March 11 introduced new products under its Computer platform, including a personal system running on a dedicated Mac mini, enterprise tools for organisations, developer APIs and financial data integrations.

The company is positioning the system as an AI agent that can move across apps, query databases and perform tasks on the internet.

Perplexity introduced Personal Computer as a system that runs on a dedicated Mac mini and operates continuously while connecting to a user’s local applications and Perplexity’s servers.

“Personal Computer runs on a dedicated Mac mini that can run 24/7, connected to your local apps and Perplexity’s secure servers,” the company said.

The company added that it acts as a digital proxy that can access files, manage tasks and coordinate tools across devices.

Sensitive actions require user approval, the company said, while sessions generate audit trails and include a kill switch that lets users immediately stop activity. Perplexity has opened a waitlist for early access.

The company also launched Computer for Enterprise, which connects the system to workplace software platforms.

Through app connectors, the system can query corporate databases and applications, including Snowflake, Salesforce and HubSpot.

The enterprise version can generate queries, run analyses and return structured results. Teams can also define workflows as custom skills and interact with the system inside collaboration platforms such as Slack.

The platform integrates coding agents, including Codex and Claude, to generate dashboards, models and presentations.

Perplexity said the system operates within security frameworks, including SOC 2 Type II, SAML SSO and sandboxed queries.

Comet For Enterprise

Perplexity also introduced Comet Enterprise, a managed version of its AI browser.

The browser allows administrators to control where the AI assistant can operate and whether it can perform actions or only answer questions.

Through a partnership with CrowdStrike, Comet Enterprise also provides security features such as extension monitoring and protection to prevent sensitive data from being entered into the AI assistant.

New APIs and Finance Tools

Perplexity AI said it is also adding four APIs to its developer platform — Search, Agent, Embeddings and Sandbox. The APIs provide the same capabilities used by Perplexity Computer, including cited search results, multi-model routing and the ability to execute tasks in controlled environments.

The platform will also integrate research databases, including Statista, CB Insights and PitchBook, allowing the system to access market and company research data within its AI research workflows with citations linking back to the original sources.

Perplexity also said Perplexity Finance now provides access to more than 40 financial data tools drawing from sources such as US Securities and Exchange Commission filings and market data providers including FactSet, S&P Global, Coinbase, London Stock Exchange Group and Quartr.

Users can also connect brokerage accounts through Plaid and access prediction market data from Polymarket.

The company said the tools can generate dashboards, spreadsheets and financial applications using the integrated data.

“This launch expands the power of Computer across personal workflows, enterprise software, developer platforms and finance,” the company said.
