Cadence Design Systems has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to scale AI-driven chip design, integrating Google’s Gemini models with its ChipStack AI Super-Agent platform, which the company launched in February.

The integration is designed to improve design automation and enable a cloud-based environment for semiconductor development. The platform is available on the Google Cloud Marketplace and targets engineering teams working on next-generation chip systems.

ChipStack AI Super-Agent combines AI-based reasoning with Cadence’s electronic design automation tools. The company said the system can deliver up to 10 times productivity gains across design and verification tasks, including testbench development, regression management, and debug processes. The platform uses Cadence’s Mental Model technology to enable agent-based reasoning, allowing AI agents to guide design workflows while using native electronic design automation tools to improve accuracy and output quality.

“By integrating the Cadence ChipStack AI Super-Agent with Gemini, we’re advancing the next generation of agentic design,” said Paul Cunningham, senior vice president and general manager at Cadence.

The collaboration uses Google Cloud infrastructure to handle the compute requirements for AI models and design tools. Cadence said the setup enables a click-to-deploy model for chip design workflows, allowing teams to deploy and scale design environments without managing underlying infrastructure.
