TCS has partnered with French AI startup Mistral to jointly build and deploy custom AI systems for enterprises, as the former sharpens its focus on large-scale enterprise AI adoption.

As part of the partnership, TCS will become the first global systems integrator (GSI) partner for Mistral Forge, the French company’s enterprise AI platform that allows organisations to build and fine tune domain-specific AI models using their own proprietary data and enterprise knowledge.

The companies said the collaboration will focus on helping enterprises and governments design AI systems with greater control, governance and regulatory alignment, amid rising concerns around data sovereignty and AI deployment risks.

“This partnership expands TCS’ AI ecosystem, uniquely positioning TCS to create a differentiated solution proposition for our clients. Together with Mistral, we will solve for specific industry challenges, regulatory requirements, and sovereign needs for our enterprise customers,” said K Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at TCS.

The partnership will initially target sectors such as banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector. TCS said it will leverage Mistral Forge to develop custom AI models tailored to enterprise workflows and operational requirements across regions including North America, Europe, the UK and Asia-Pacific.

The move comes as global IT services firms race to deepen partnerships with AI model makers and hyperscalers to strengthen their enterprise AI offerings. Indian IT firms including TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCLTech have increasingly tied up with AI ecosystem players as enterprises move from pilot projects to production-scale deployments.

TCS will also set up a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Mistral to drive joint innovation, industry-specific AI solutions and project delivery capabilities. The centre will additionally provide early access to Mistral’s beta models and support training and governance capabilities around AI deployment.

“TCS’ global scale and contextual industry knowledge make them an ideal partner for Mistral,” said Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder at Mistral.

He added that the companies will enable enterprises to move from experimentation to AI deployment with systems that are open, production-ready and aligned with their strategic and operational requirements.

Mistral has emerged as one of Europe’s most prominent AI startups, positioning itself as an alternative to US-based AI companies through its open-source and enterprise-focused AI models.
